Responsibility
“I am responsible for all logistics processes within Intermotive”, Stefan explains. “From incoming and outgoing goods, to organising transport and managing the logistics team for parts and cars. Purchasing and taking care of all the necessary documents also fall under my remit.”
Process optimisation
Stefan will also actively engage in process optimisation, including the automation of logistics processes. This is an important pillar, especially given the extensive international projects we carry out. Stefan: “Just look at the recent transport of eighty vehicles to Conakry in Africa!”
Known with the business
Although Stefan has only just formally started, Intermotive is familiar territory! “After studying economics and logistics at college, I worked here for a year. I then gained nine years experience at a wholesale company in Sliedrecht, where my responsibilities included administration, purchasing, and process improvement. I then worked at a manufacturing company, focusing on optimisation and digitalisation.”
Familiar and challenging
The return to Intermotive came at the right time. “A few weeks ago, Hans Bos approached me to ask if I wanted to join Intermotive. The customer-oriented approach, the international character, the variety and the emphasis on customisation really appealed to me and so I made the move.”
Growing into wider role
Stefan is looking forward to working with operations director Ben, from whom he will gradually take over tasks over the next few years: “This phased transfer gives room to work in well. In time, this will allow me to grow into a broader role within the company with confidence.”
Family and motorcycling
Stefan is 34 years old, married to a GP and father of a two-year-old son. The family lives in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, a five-minute walk from his parents. “Due to the hustle and bustle of family life, my hobbies are on the back burner, but I enjoy riding motorbikes and race at the track from time to time. Once a year, I go on a motorbike tour with a group. I also enjoy holidays with my family.”
Confidence in the future
For Stefan, the coming period will be about familiarising himself with the company, getting involved, and finding his place within the team. “I know the company well, but first I want to find my niche. Intermotive is an organisation where the customer really takes centre stage, where people work together, and where there is room for development. When we talk again in six months, I hope to have made good progress!”
