In this interview, Ronald talks about his work and about himself.
Automotive
Ronald: “My background is in the automotive sector, where I have more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive materials trade. I have held positions as a company director and branch manager, and trained as a mechanic. That experience fits well with my current position.”
Clear and familiar
Ronald is the right-hand man to manager Jeroen Voermans. “I understood from René that Intermotive was looking. After talks and a number of visits, I took the plunge. The regular working hours and an orderly, family-run company really appealed to me. Going from a busy, physical job to an office job took some getting used to. At my request, we now have standing workstations”, he says with a wink!
Internationally oriented
“My work is internationally oriented”, he continues. “We communicate in English. Inquiries come in by e-mail and are distributed among the employees. We take care of the whole process from inquiry to sale. I maintain telephone contact with larger customers and process purchase orders. Sometimes we also do aftercare, in case of longer delivery times. We work closely with the logistics department to serve our customers in the best possible way.”
Technical background
Ronald: “My technical background as a car mechanic is helpful. I am often the technical point of inquiry for both colleagues and customers. For example, we look for hard-to-find parts for trucks. Once, a customer needed parts for a broken truck in a mine. We found the parts at a local supplier and within a few days they could be at the customer’s place by plane.”
Flexible and proactive
“The flexibility and proactive attitude are truly distinctive at Intermotive”, Ronald believes. “Our slogan ‘Driven to serve’ is lived up to, by proactively informing customers, even if it's bad news. We strive to deliver smoothly and, above all, right the first time. We compensate for the less direct contact with customers with phone calls and online meetings.”
Challenging job
Ronald constantly strives to do his job to the best of his ability. “It is a challenging job, in which I continuously gain customer knowledge. The collegial and pleasant working environment really appeals to me! Intermotive takes good care of its employees: that contributes to the positive working atmosphere.”
Many animals
Ronald is 53 years old and born and raised in Breda. “My wife and I have been together for 17 years, nine of which have been married. I have a bonus daughter, and we have many animals, including a dog, cats and rodents. I also have too many hobbies: tinkering with old American cars, I have started my motorbike driving license, and I am a big music lover! Walking the dog is my sport, and we usually spend the holidays at home, taking care of our animals!”
