René enjoys life and is happy with where he is now!
Sharing knowledge
René: “At the moment I am mainly active as a coach and knowledge transfer agent. The day-to-day management is in the hands of Hans Bos, and I support him where necessary. My focus is on financial matters and customer relations. In addition, Hans and I often travel together to visit clients so that I can pass on my knowledge and network. This is a natural process in which I gradually take on less responsibility.”
Gradual growth
“When we started in 1999, we quickly focused on business-to-business and started to specialise in the industrial, mining and oil and gas markets”, René continues. “Originally, we mainly supplied cars, but over time we expanded our product range. We also started supplying trucks and became more and more specialised in supplying the mining sector. Our growth has always been gradual and strategic. We owe our success mainly to word of mouth and strong relationship management.”
Stable position built up
René: “We have a broad base of satisfied customers, and we deliver quality products. It’s a combination I’m proud of. Of course, there are always challenges and our market is dependent on economic conditions, such as raw material prices. But we have built up a stable position over the years and that gives us a lot of confidence.”
Close-knit and expert team
“Service and quality are our strengths”, says René. “We work with a close-knit and knowledgeable team. What really sets us apart is that we have a strong service-oriented attitude. Our customers are often far away, and we have to do a good job in one go. We make sure we are reliable and proactive. If there is a problem, we solve it as quickly as possible. This commitment is part of our corporate culture.”
Family is important
René is 64 years old and lives in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. “I have been married for almost forty years, and we have two children who now have families of their own. We have recently welcomed our third grandchild. Family is very important to me, and we enjoy spending time together. We regularly look after our grandchildren and have a lot of fun together. He continues: In my spare time, I go to the gym every day to keep fit. I also enjoy riding my motorbike and going on weekend trips. I also find gardening relaxing.”
Natural transfer
René is proud of Intermotive’s future. “We have recently expanded the company. The transfer of shares to Hans is gradual and feels natural. If everything goes according to plan, I will end my active role in the middle of next year. But as long as I am involved, I will continue to help Intermotive grow!”
