Silver anniversary
Intermotive was established on 19 November 1999. “We literally started from scratch”, says René. “Over the years we have developed into a specialist automotive company with a focus on the mining industry, particularly in Africa. Our philosophy is that mining should never stand still: vehicles are a means to an end. We wanted and still want to unburden our customers. With an increasing focus on parts, tools and training. Our strength lies in personal relationships and quick turnaround. That’s what makes us a reliable partner in the industry.”
Service and flexibility
Intermotive stands out for its service and flexibility, but also for its tailor-made solutions and strong customer relationships. René: “Our mechanics travel to Africa to solve problems on site and work closely with the customer to identify specific needs. This personal contact and our ability to deliver quickly are crucial for us.”
Takeover and new leadership
With the imminent takeover by Hans Bos, a new chapter begins for Intermotive. René: “The COVID period has been challenging and has also strengthened my decision to step back. Hans and I have known each other for many years. His experience in truck trading and exporting to Africa made him the ideal candidate to take over. He joined us in January 2022 with the aim of eventually taking over the company. It soon became clear that he not only understood the business, but also our culture.”
Further development
Hans has a background in the automotive industry and a passion for exports and international trade. Hans: “I wanted to chart my own course, to realize my own vision. I am proactive and like to take the initiative, traits that fit well with Intermotive.” Through his commitment, he has built a strong bond with the team and customers, and has already played an important role in the development of Intermotive.
Looking to the future
With the handover of leadership now complete, René looks to the future with confidence. In the coming period, I will be winding down my role and Hans will increasingly become the face of Intermotive. Our customers and employees will always be at the center, and I am confident that Hans will continue to promote these values. I look forward to playing an advisory role, knowing that Intermotive is in good hands.
Plenty of opportunities
Hans still sees plenty of opportunities for Intermotive to grow. “Our foundation is strong customer relationships and quality. We want to show more of what we can do and increase our visibility. There are so many opportunities to serve our customers more broadly. For example, by expanding into heavier machines and trucks.”
René concludes: “We couldn’t have imagined a better scenario. I am happy to hand over the company to someone who shares the same vision and wants to take Intermotive to the next level.” René and Hans are confident about Intermotive’s future: personal service, flexibility and international experience will continue to make the difference. On to the next 25 years!
